Islam: The Religion of Peace Where Violence, Coercion, and Compulsion Have No Place.
(Allama Hami)

Thousands of Youth Pledge Participation in the Anti-Drug Campaign.

Islam is the only universal religion whose very name begins with the word peace, and whose teachings begin with the command to seek knowledge. It is the pure and upright faith whose earliest to final teachings clearly emphasize social harmony, human brotherhood, and a categorical rejection of violence. The primary sources of Islam— the Holy Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — explicitly clarify that coercion, violence, and terrorism have absolutely no connection with Islam. Anyone who advocates such reprehensible actions is deprived of the true spirit of Islam. These remarks were made by the chief of Karwani Islami International, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, while addressing a large public gathering at the Central Jamia Masjid Hamchi Pora, Khag Budgam, on the blessed occasion of Jumu'ah. According to sources, the gathering consisted predominantly of youth. Addressing them directly, Dr. Hami advised them to enrich themselves with the true teachings of Islam and to play their role as ambassadors of peace and safety for the world and the nation. Speaking about Sufism and the Sufi tradition, Allama Hami stated that the teachings and character of the revered Sufis are a guiding light for us, for in their illumination lie the solutions to all contemporary problems. He said that no one has represented Islam in the way the Sufi saints have, and therefore, following their teachings and spiritual discipline is essential for social and moral harmony. He added that, in the present era, it is crucial for society’s peace and stability to remain connected with the spiritual sanctuaries of the true guardians of Islam—the Sufi saints. Allama Hami urged the public, especially the youth, to remain spiritually attached to the shrines and sanctuaries of the Awliya Allah and the Sufi saints while also striving for worldly progress, for in this lies success in both worlds. Meanwhile, speaking about the growing menace of drugs, Allama Hami said that restricting the spread of narcotics is one of the most urgent needs of the time, as a significant portion of the youth is falling prey to destruction. He urged young people to devote themselves to education and skills and emphasized that they must avoid wasting time in pointless social media chatter. Instead, they should invest their precious time in gaining knowledge and expertise. During the gathering, thousands of young people responded to Allama Hami’s call, pledging to participate in the anti-drug campaign and committing themselves to play an active role in the welfare of society and the nation.
